Why the plumber had to go to the basement

And we got Castle Court

Mar 20, 2026

Need to do a wrap up for Singapore as we leave for Australia in the morning.  So where did we leave off?

Yes my extra arm and wardrobe atrocity. We were feeling confident at this stage and decided to try out the MRT. The tube if you will. An absolute breeze. Within minutes we found ourselves at Bayfront with the vague plan of getting a river cruise. But first we had to navigate the Bay Shoppes. Holy Jesus. Enormous with a river running through it. And not a pound shop in site. Every shop was a premium brand. Look it up. Bargain Books - no. Superdrug - no. Phone repair - no. This thing was built in the 90’s. Round about the time we got Castle Court. Say no more. Anyway we needed sustenance and Mrs Vernon had previously voiced a notion for Ramen. And after a 30 minute walk from one end of this joint to the other we found ourselves in the food court. I’ll say it again Holy Jesus. There must have been sixty food outlets to cater for all your hankerings. And lo and behold also a sit down Ramen restaurant. It was great. The only issue was that despite all my sincere efforts I had to shamefacedly ask for a fork as despite now having an extra arm chopsticks were beyond me. Suitably sated my superb navigational skills had positioned us within minutes of a river cruise stop. Off we went and just as the sun was setting we boarded a Water B boat that went from Marina Bay past all the iconic bridges as far as Clarke Quay. The return to Marina Bay allowed fantastic night views of the city all lit up. Then got the return trip through Heaven’s Shopping centre back on the MRT. A few mis-steps that took us through the Casino past the most cash machines I have ever seen and then back for Mrs Vernon’s now customary Singapore Sling. All told a grand first full day. That’s Wednesday wrapped up.
