Great card.

Where did the toilet rolls go?

Apr 16, 2026

High crimes and misdemeanours afoot today as young Mr Verno prepared to move out. Before that Mrs Verno presented me with what must be the best birthday card ever. Bought weeks previously during our second visit to Sydney - I know. And as has become a tradition she had composed a wonderful poem within. When you have blog rhymed with dog you know have a keeper. Excellent. I must also report that Mrs Verno’s hay fever appeared much better. Tree pollen must have reduced overnight. Similarly young Mr Verno was less afflicted.

The StoolMaker

It was my great pleasure to have a bowl of Vancouver Mr Verno’s famous porridge. This compelled me to lecture young Mr Vancouver Verno on the importance of bowel health for older gentlemen. I think it was what lay ahead for me in 8 to 12 hours that brought this about.

Mrs Verno had decided to up her steps and to investigate the local area having done so 20 years ago - Minaru Park and the Richmond Centre - as well as taking in the houses you see along the way. Every single house is different, no two are the same. It is remarkable.

The two Vancouver Mr Verno’s and I set off to move the younger into his new digs. A good drive through Vancouver to Quebec Street and we were there. A great apartment in a great part of the town. Hipster Central. And with a Dollarama right next door. The importance of this cannot be underestimated. But before we left base camp young Mr Verne was caught in the act of acquiring one of the most important items ever when moving into somewhere new.

We even saw where the said item ended up.

The place was great and young Mr Verno was most appreciative of our assistance.

We had a walk around the area and took in the sights as well as the best bollard we have seen to date. We have a thing about these Having purloigned one last year for the Vancouver Verno’s. It is what we do. We also saw a chariot in a second hand bike shop that clearly did not meet the standards needed to become a quality refurbished chariot.

Off we were then to pick up a chariot from a seller in south Vancouver. At that stop we had Vancouver Mr Verno, who is sensitive about his height stand under a sign with young Mr Vancouver Verno, who is not. Not sure what was proven but it is photographic evidence of something. It was then off for coffee in Steveston where we were able to watch the last 20 minutes of Bayern Munich versus Real Madrid. While the score was 4 all young Mr Verne placed a $5 bet on Madrid. One minute later they had a player sent of and that was that. 6-4 to Bayern.

Home for some quiet time and then out for a meal for my birthday. The plan was to go to the Flying Beaver. This is where Seaplanes to Vancouver Island land and take off from. Unfortunately the wait was far too long and we then went to Kisamo’s in Steveston for a great Greek meal. Our server was Kathi and she was not to be trifled with. I had to admit defeat as the roast lamb was to die for.

Readers should be reminded that the venerable Mrs Verno also had her birthday while on this trip so many happy returns go to her as we near the end of this epic adventure. Tomorrow will be a trip on the Skytrain and a tootle around Vancouver using the water taxis that traverse False Creek. Weather permitting.
