Only one of us is getting out of here!
The headline is hopefully wrong. More later. We are four weeks in now and we are looking forward to the home comforts of our Vancouver residence. Mrs Verno has recharged her quite impressive batteries and is ready to take on the next arduous flight up the rockies. I was left to my own devices today and had quite the dander. I walked to the foot of Lombard Street and boy was it a steep climb to get there only to find that you really need a drone to capture the money shot of all those bends. Too many trees in the way. I did my best.

A slow meander back down, a bit easier, to the shoreline and captured a few street cars. My goal was to capture at least 10 in passing. during our stay. I think I have managed it. Here’s a sample. Two of these are the same but feck it.

Well, I ventured on and around the Wharf, again like a local, trying to get as much in before the rain came on. I know, imagine rain in April, who has a climate like that.

The rain came on and I returned to a rejuvenated Mrs Verno who had turned the room into a veritable sauna what her pre-packing ironing routine. I was reacquainted once more with Betty Swallocks and not for the first time on this trip. Singapore needed special remedial action in the aftermath of that experience. We settled for a quiet time in which I managed to pre-clear us through Canadian immigration. This only made the next part more perplexing. Checking in proved frustrating as the Air Canada app (which obviously referred to CBSA, and having seen the TV show you all know) refused to accept that we had valid visas. Holy good god. Between Rory and this the day was not going as planned. We tried and tried. To no avail. I have printouts of our acceptance and remember I have already travelled on mine. Well we headed on out for a quick tea, chowder in a sourdough bowl and a cheese and bacon toastie. Somewhat of a diet meal but tasty and sustaining. After eating we tried checking in again and lo and behold. Love that phrase. Yours truly was checked in. Seat 13B. Not a good sign but a sign nonetheless. Mrs Verno remained persona non grata if you will. I have promised not to leave her behind. Anyway, here’s a chowder sourdough bowl to cheer you up.

And to show you how optimistic Mrs Verno is that I have entered her details in correctly for entry in Canada here’s her immaculately packed case. As things stand Mrs Verno is remaining in the states at the hospitality of the Federal Government.

We will no doubt keep you posted should the authorities permit!!!!!!!!!
