Taxi

We began our last full day with a happy birthday to Mrs Verno. Her birthday treat was to walk around Singapore Zoo in 33 degrees heat with humidity that literally sucked the life clean out of you. Shucks. That’s the type of guy I am. So a taxi was required which duly arrived and we winged our way to a huge campus in the north of Singapore. The area is adjacent to a military base with reassuringly blunt demands to stay out or you will be shot. After three hours walking around the zoo such a prospect had its allure. But I jest. The zoo was great with all the usual stars of the show including our little buddy above. There was lots of shade and helpful volunteers and a gift from god in the shape of a shuttle service that fast tracked the exit process once we had seen enough.

After we returned to the hotel Mrs Verno planned to have a swim on the 30th floor Skypool. I set out to photograph the Old Hill Police Station. You’ll see why it was a draw from the photos. The light was brutal for taking photos throughout the stay in Singapore with harsh sunlight and deepest shadows really testing cameras but we will see what we get out of the many attempts once I get home.

The sweat was lashing off me after tramping the streets to get these shots so there was nothing for it but to grab a cold one while sitting in front of two big fans in a bar close to the hotel. That was lovely. The third picture was one that will go well with the Genius Central and Ginger Garden pictures from previous days as I build up up my modelling portfolio.

We are nearly finished with Singapore as we fly out to Sydney in the morning with a 7.30am pickup from the hotel. I know, miserable. It’s a pity on us. But before that we closed out our trip with a last visit to Lau Pa Sat for food. I could not resist some Dim Sum before we headed to see the laser show in Marina Bay and the light show at the Super Grove. Both were brilliant. See for yourself.
